    ABOUT US 

    John Francis was the son of John and Catherine Carey. John Francis (born: 08/04/1860) married Annie (Alice Mary) Clancy (born: 03/09/1858). John died at Strathalbyn on 06/04/1936 and was buried at Mt Barker. He was a Railway Ganger by trade and lived at Callington.

    Annie's parents were James Clancy born ca 1828 Lancs. England. He arrived in SA 1857 on board the ' Monsoon'. He was a labourer, lived at Mt Barker, a practising Roman Catholic and his wife was Margaret Clancy (nee Baker). She was born in 1829 and had four children; John born ca 1855, Patrick born ca 1857, Annie born 03/09/1858, James born 1861.

    John and Annie had five children. Annie (Allen) born 1884 and died 1965, Jack born 1885 and died 1963, James born 1889 and died 1975, William and Mabel.

    Annie married Harry Allen who had a blacksmith's shop and a hire car. They had two sons, Reg and Syrill. Reg took over the Blacksmith's shop and Syrill started up a printing business eventually moving down to Adelaide to establish his business there. Annie and her family were quite close to James and Mary Carey nee Newberry.
