He was a special Ganger in charge of railways at Currency Creek and Murray Bridge. He later worked at Coonalpyn, Binnum and Hynam before moving down to Adelaide. James married Mary Elizabeth Newberry in 15/06/1912. Mary was born 24/04/1892 at Millicent, SA and died at (37 Albermarle Street) West Hindmarsh, SA 09/04/1973. Her parents were James Newberry and Mary Ann Newberry (nee McGinty). James was born on 06/12/1862 at Perkina , SA and died 21.07/1946. He was buried at West Terrace Cemetery.
